En este artículo se presenta la incidencia que sobre las regiones periféricas del moderno sistema mundial tiene tanto la globalización económica como la inversión extranjera directa. Partiendo del estudio de caso de la Argentina en las últimas décadas del siglo XX, se comprueba la intensificación de la heterogeneidad en el desarrollo con la aceleración del proceso globalizador y qué responsabilidad tiene la IED (Inversión Extranjera Directa) en ello. Tras revisar el marco conceptual de la IED, se aborda la IED en la Argentina de los noventa y la IED en el ámbito local.

ABSTRACT:

This article presents the impact of the economic globalisation and foreign direct investment on the peripheral regions of the modern world system. Starting with a case study of Argentina in the last decades of the 20th century, it demonstrates the intensification of the heterogeneity in development which accompanies the acceleration of the globalisation process and the role of the FDI (Foreign Direct Investment) in the process. Having revised the conceptual framework of the FDI, it deals with the FDI in Argentina of the 1990s and the FDI in the local environment.
