EL GOLPE DE ESTADO CONTRA MACÍAS EN MARZO DE 1969. ¿INTERVENCIÓN ESPAÑOLA O CONFLICTO INTERNO GUINEANO?

Resumen

La independencia de Guinea Ecuatorial fue mal planificada por el gobierno de Franco y tuvo un resultado adverso para los intereses políticos y económicos españoles. Durante la fase final del proceso, el gobierno español, dividido en materia de descolonización, no consiguió imponer uno de sus candidatos a la presidencia de la República cuando se celebraron las primeras elecciones. Tras la independencia, en octubre de 1968, las relaciones hispano-guineanas se deterioraron rápidamente, como consecuencia de la actitud anti española del presidente Macías y del no respaldo económico del estado español al guineano. A comienzos de marzo de 1969, el ministro de Exteriores, Ndongo, intentó un golpe de Estado contra Macías, que fracasó. Con documentación inédita de diferentes archivos, este trabajo analiza los antecedentes y el desarrollo del golpe de Estado, para evaluar en qué medida fue un conflicto interno guineano y en qué medida hubo intervención española, sin descartar la influencia de otros intereses estatales y privados

The independence of Equatorial Guinea was badly planned by the Franco government and had an adverse outcome for Spanish political and economic interests. During the final phase of the process, the Spanish government, divided in terms of decolonization, failed to impose one of its candidates for the presidency of the Republic when the first elections were held. After independence, in October 1968, Spanish-Guinean relations deteriorated quickly, as a result of the anti-Spanish attitude of President Macías and the lack of economic support from the Spanish state to Guinea. At the beginning of March 1969, the Foreign Minister, Ndongo, tried a coup against Macias, which failed. With unpublished documentation from different archives, this work analyzes the antecedents and the development of the coup d'état, to evaluate to what extent was an internal Guinean conflict and to what extent there was Spanish intervention, without ruling out the influence of other state and private interests.
