¿Historia contra Memoria? La utilización del pasado en el presente y el papel de los historiadores

Resumen

El debate sobre la Ley de Memoria Histórica desarrollado durante la última legislatura (2004-2008) pone sobre la mesa de los historiadores un interesante ámbito de reflexión que no debemos despreciar. Ante el riesgo de convertir la memoria histórica en política de la historia, y ante la posibilidad de que los historiadores acabemos participando como simples comparsas de las acusaciones cruzadas entre los distintos partidos políticos, conviene plantear un debate intelectual, fundamentado en conceptos, que al menos trate de definir con toda la claridad posible qué es Memoria, en qué se diferencia ésta de la Historia, cómo se construyen las memorias colectivas y qué variables influyen en dicha construcción. En este artículo plantearemos algunas respuestas a estas preguntas que, por supuesto, no pretenden ser definitivas, ni mucho menos cerradas, pues lo aquí escrito se ofrece como objeto de debate con el fin de profundizar en un tema tan polémico como fascinante.

¿History vs Memory? The utilization of the past in the present and the role of the historians

Abstract

The debate on the by heart Historical Memory Law developed during the last term of office (2004-2008) puts on the table of the historians an interesting field of reflection that do not have to despise. In front of the risk to convert the historical memory in politics of the history, and in front of the possibility that the historians finish taking part like simple instruments of the indictments crossed between the distinct political parties, suits to pose an intellectual debate, that at least treat to define with all the possible clarity what is Memory, in what difference this of the History, how build the collective memories and which variables influence in said building. In this article will pose some answers to these questions that, of course, do not pretend to be definite, neither much less closed, pues the here written offer like object of debate with the end to deepen in a subject so delicate like interesting.
